The Wyoming women’s basketball team will finish up its non-conference slate on Monday against the Colorado Buffaloes. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium. Wyoming is currently 6-3 after a 75-69 victory against Montana State this past Saturday. Three Cowgirls finished the night in double-digits led by senior Marquelle Dent. She tied her season-high with 23 points along with four steals and two assists in 40 minutes of action. Sophomore Liv Roberts followed with a career-high 17 points and eight boards while sophomore Natalie Baker finished with her first double-double of her career with ten points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Senior Jordan Kelley also added ten boards. UW shot 21-of-60 (.350) for the game including 13-of-29 (.448) in the third in the fourth quarters.
Dent currently leads the team in scoring, assists and steals. She ranks second in assists, minutes played and assist/turnover ratio plus is third in scoring in the MW. Kelley is averaging 11.2 points and 9.4 rebounds which is third in the league.
UW is shooting 198-of-516 (.384) from the field and 55-of-175 (.314) from beyond the arc this season. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 68.2-62.4 and out rebounding teams 38.2-35.7.
The Buffs are currently 5-5 overall after a 72-60 win over Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon. Three players are averaging in double-figures led by Jamee Swann with a team high 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds. Kennedy Leonard is chipping in 11.7 points and 4.2 rebounds while Haley Smith adds 10.2 points per contest. As a team, CU is averaging 70.9 points per contest and 39.1 rebounds per contest. The Buffs return two starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 15-17 overall and 6-12 in the Pac-12 a season ago.
This is the 49th meeting between the two schools. CU holds the series record 37-11. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 21, 2014 with the Buffs coming out on top with 76-71 in Boulder. Colorado is coached by Linda Lappe who is in her sixth season with the program.
