Athlete of the Week

Kayla Woodward

What would you say is the biggest difference between high school basketball and college?
I think the biggest difference between high school basketball and college would have to be the speed of the game and how physical it is.

Was UW always the right fit for you, or were you deciding between other schools?
UW was definitely the right fit for me. I was just getting into the whole recruiting process when I committed verbally. I actually signed before I even went on an official visit.

What was going through your head before your first college game?
There were so many things going through my head because I was so nervous!

What is it about basketball that made you want to play at the collegiate level?
Basketball has always been fun for me and I like being around people who love playing the game as much as I do.

Who are your role models? Why?
My older brother because I have always looked up to him since I was little, and he is one of the hardest workers I know.

Now that you have been on some road trips with the team, what is your favorite part about them?
I like just the traveling aspect of it and we are getting out of town. I also like that we are all together as a team and we always make the most out of the trips and have fun.

Are you currently living in the dorms? Who do you live with?
Yes, I'm living with Kaitlyn Mileto.

What has the transition from high school classes to college classes been like for you?
The transition was very tough because once you have more time to do homework it seems like you can't get yourself to actually sit down and finish it.

Since you are playing close to home, do you family and friends make it to your home games often?
My family usually tries to make it to every home game and if some of my friends are close to Laramie they'll come and watch some games.

What was the last movie you saw in the theater? Did you like it?
Sherlock Holmes. It was really good!

What is your least favorite practice drill?
My least favorite practice drill would have to be the five man weave.

Who is your favorite celebrity? Why?
My favorite celebrity would have to be Robert Pattinson because he's Edward from Twilight of course.

What is your favorite thing to do with your free time?
My favorite thing to do with my free time nowadays is just to relax and hang out with friends.

What is your dream vacation?
My dream vacation is to go to a very tropical place outside of the U.S.
