The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will play their final game before the holiday break against the Utah State Aggies, on Thursday, Dec. 23. The game time is set for 2 p.m. in Logan.
Wyoming is currently 8-3 on the season after a convincing 73-51 win over Montana on Tuesday night in Missoula. Hillary Carlson is leading the way with 18.0 points and 7.7 rebounds, while Aubrey Vandiver follows with 17.5 points and 9.9 rebounds. The Cowgirls are shooting .411 (246-598) from the field, 78-225 (.347) from beyond the arc and 143-199 (.719) from the charity stripe.
The Aggies are currently 6-5 overall and coming off a 60-57 win over South Dakota State last time out. They are led by Ashlee Brown, who is averaging a team leading 14.1 points and 9.2 rebounds. She is followed by Banna Diop who is adding 8.9 points and 6.2 rebounds. They return two starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 13-17 overall and 5-11 in the Western Athletic conference a year ago.
This is the 18th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 13-4. The last time the two teams met was December 17, 2006 as the Cowgirls defeated the Aggies, 62-43, in Laramie. Utah State is coached by Raegan Pebley who is in her eighth season with the program.
