Cowgirl Basketball Returns To The Court Against Loyola Marymount

The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will return to the court after an 11-day break between games as they host the Loyola Marymount Lions. The game is set for Saturday, Dec. 29 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at

Wyoming is 9-2 on the season after defeating Ball State, 64-61, on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Four Cowgirls finished the evening in double-digits led by sophomore Kayla Woodward. She had 16 points and seven rebounds, while shooting 7-10 (.700) from the field. Fallon Lewis had a career high 14 points off the bench while Chaundra Sewell and Kailtyn Mileto each added 12 points. Wyoming shot 22-49 (.449) from the field, including 11-21 (.524) in the second half. They were 9-21 (.429) from beyond the arc and had 13 points off turnovers.

Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Woodward. She is averaging 13.4 points plus 5.7 rebounds. Mileto follows with 13.0 points, while Sewell is adding 12.7 points and a league high 9.7 rebounds. Ashley Sickles chips in 11.7 points and 5.9 boards as well. Wyoming is first in the league in scoring offense (69.3 ppg) and assists (14.5 aspg). They are also shooting 269-598 (.450) from the field and 79-188 (.420) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league.

The Lions are 6-6 overall this season after an 84-71 loss against Cal Poly their last time out. They are led by Alex Cowling who is averaging a team high 16.2 points plus 7.1 rebounds. Hazel Ramirez follows with 11.4 points, while Mackenzie Kerins brings down a team high 7.7 boards. They return three starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 8-22 overall and 3-13 in the West Coast Conference.

This will be the seventh meeting between the two schools. The series is tied 3-3. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 26, 2011 as the Lions defeated the Cowgirls, 57-54, in Los Angeles. LMU is coached by Charity Elliott who is in her first season with the program.
