The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will play their final non-conference game of the season as they take on the Boise State Broncos, on Thursday, Dec. 31. The game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. in Boise, Idaho.
The Cowgirls will enter Thursday's game with a 9-2 overall record. Four Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far, led by junior Hillary Carlson with 13.7 points and 2.5 blocks per game. She is followed by junior Aubrey Vandiver with 13.5 points and a team leading 9.4 rebounds, while Emma Langford is adding 11.3 points and Kristen Scheffler with 11.0 points per game.
Carlson ranks first in blocks and eighth in scoring while being ranked second in free throw percentage and fourth in field goal percentage in the Mountain West Conference. Vandiver ranks among the Top 15 in points, rebounds and steals, while Langford is 13th in assists and 17th in scoring.
The Broncos are currently 10-3 overall entering the game. BSU is led by Jessica Van Hoogen who is averaging 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. They welcome back two starters and five letterwinners to a team that went 16-15 overall and 9-7 in the Western Athletic Conference last season. This is the seventh meeting between the two teams. The series is tied at 3-3. The last time the two teams met was November 25, 2008 as the Cowgirls defeated Boise State 62-55 in Laramie. The Broncos are coached by Gordy Presnell who is in his fifth season with the program.
