LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Wyoming women's golfer Jordan Lintz shot a final round 82 at the Pepperdine Wave Invitational on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 47th place with a 36-hole total of 165. Wyoming placed 16th out of 17 teams in the final team standings. The 36-hole tournament was played at the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Cote de Caza, Calif.
Adrienne Mucci of the University of Arkansas was the individual medalist with a two-round total of 147 (74-73). Host Pepperdine won the team competition with a final score of 615 -- four strokes better than Arkansas (619).
"We played much better today as a team," said Wyoming women's golf coach Jill Johnson. "Our team score was 14 strokes better than yesterdays (337 on Wednsday compared to 351 on Tuesday).
"Hopefully every hole we play will be a stepping stone to making us a better team. All the girls played steady today, but everybody on our team still needs to cut four to five strokes off each round to get to where we need to be.
"These were the first two rounds of the spring for us, and we know we have some things to improve upon. But I saw a lot of good shots from our team this week, and I know the girls are excited about our next tournament in North Carolina in a couple of weeks."
This year's Pepperdine Wave Invitational featured one of the elite fields in womens collegiate golf. Among the top schools competing were: Arkansas, Brigham Young, California, Hawaii and host Pepperdine. The tournament is one of only 100 womens college golf tournaments to be a part of the Rolex Collegiate Tour this year.
The tournament was played on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 16-17 at the Cote de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Cote de Caza, Calif. The course measured 6,105 yards and played to a par of 73.
