LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming womens golf team finished 15th at the 13th Annual Snowbird Intercollegiate hosted, by Northern Illinois University in Tampa, Fla.
Leading the way for Wyoming the second day was Jessie Santesson, who shot a round of 79. Santesson was followed by Jordan Lintz (80), Katherine Crowley (82), Jana Johnson (84) and Tara Ludwig (85).
The Cowgirls moved up from 16th after the first day of competition in a field of 23 teams. Wyomings two-day team total was 665. Wyoming cut 15 strokes off its total the second day to shoot 325.
Both Johnson and Santesson shot a two-day total of 164 to lead the Cowgirls. Lintz shot a 166 and Crowley and Ludwig followed with 174.
The champion of the tournament was Methodist College, which shot a two-round total of 619. The individual champion was Laura Hammond of Penn State with a total of 146, four strokes ahead of the field.
"I was really happy to see the girls bounce back the way they did," said Jill Johnson, UW head womens golf coach. "Jessie (Santesson) and Jordan (Lintz) each cut six strokes off of their first day scores. That is the kind of progress that we need to have.
"And with the improved round that Katherine (Crowley) shot, that enabled our team to sneak up a spot in the standings. This was a very competitive field and it gives us some good experience for the rest of the way."
