ST. GEORGE, Utah -
The first two rounds of the BYU Classic came to a close on Monday afternoon in the first day in St. George, Utah with the University of Wyoming Cowgirls in 10th place.
It was a tale of two rounds for the Cowgirls, following the first round the women were in a tie for third place with their opening 305 (+17) which had them in the hunt. However, after the second round the Cowgirls found themselves in 10th place with a total of 632 (+56) strokes.
The Cowgirls were once again led by junior Molly Black and sophomore Juanita Rico with their matching two round totals of 154 (+10). They are currently in a tie for 20th place and have one final round to make up some ground. Rico's first round 73 (+1) was the best for the Cowgirls in the first two rounds.
"I was extremely happy with our first round, however, we need to minimize our mistakes," said head coach Joe Jensen. "This is a very difficult course that if you make a mistake it will make you pay for it."
The Cowgirls will complete the BYU Classic Tuesday afternoon with their final round. Action can be followed with live stats at www.golfstat.com.
