ST. GEORGE, Utah -
With snow flying in the state of Wyoming the University of Wyoming Cowgirl golf team completed the third round of the BYU Classic in St. George, Utah exactly where they started it, in 10th place.
The championship went to San Diego State with their three round total of 890 (+26). The Lady Aztecs had three rounds under 300, and beat 27th ranked Louisville by 15 strokes. The Cowgirls had a third round of 326 (+38) which gave them a three round total of 958 (+94) strokes.
The Cowgirls were unable to get back on their feet after their tough second round on Monday. Freshman Dana Zamprelli had the low round for the Cowgirls in the third round with her 79 (+7), finishing her in 45th place. Zamprelli had a strong back nine shooting only one over, but stumbled on the front nine coming in with a 42 on the par 36.
Following Zamprelli was junior Molly Black with her team low 236 (+20) and a tie for 29th place. She was trailed by sophomore Juanita Rico who ended the tournament in a tie for 32nd place and a three round total of 237 (+21).
The Cowgirls will now gear up for their host tournament in Chandler, Ariz., on Monday and Tuesday April 5 and 6. The Cowgirls will be host to 22 teams at the beautiful Ocotillo Golf Club for the fourth year.
