EUGENE, Ore. -
After an up-and-down Day One, the Wyoming Cowgirl golf team ended Day Two right where they began, ninth place out of 15 teams following the final round of the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
UW matched their solid first round score and shot 308 (+20) on Tuesday morning, finishing with a three-round total of 941 (+77). That mark was three strokes ahead of tenth place Minnesota and 13 shots behind eighth place Oregon State.
Wyoming fluctuated on the leaderboard with rounds of 308 and 325 (+37) on Monday.
The event-host and 45th ranked Oregon Ducks won the team title with a total of 900 (+36). The UC Davis Aggies took second place with their score of 904 (+40), while the 16th ranked Cal Bears were third (912).
Cowgirl senior Laura Mengelkamp shot even-par 72 for the second time this season in her final round. She finished in a tie for 12th place out of 81 participants with her three-round tally of 227 (+11). Mengelkamp now has 27 career finishes in the top-25 of a major field.
UW sophomore Jonelle Martinez also had a good final round, scoring 75 (+3). Martinez ended the event tied for 21st place. Wyoming senior Lindsay Bauknecht added a solid scorecard of 78 (+6) to the team total on Tuesday. Cowgirl sophomore Sarah Fogerty and freshman Molly Black had a tough final 18 holes, with scores of 83 (+11) and 84 (+12), respectively.
The 54-hole event was played at the Eugene Country Club, which measures 6,052 yards and is par 72.
Wyoming's next tournament will be the BYU Dixie Classic, held April 1-2 in St. George, Utah.
