Freshman Kaylee Knadler and sophomore Gabrielle Gibson each shot a second-round 80 (+8) on Tuesday at the Mountain West Championship to lead the University of Wyoming Cowgirl golf team. With a score of 646 (+70), Wyoming is in ninth place after a 325 (+37) on the second day of the tournament.

“The course is playing very difficult,” Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender said. “Teams are averaging 10-15 shots higher than their season average. The girls are disappointed and know they have better play in them.”

Kaylee Knadler leads the Cowgirls in a tie for 34th place overall. She has a two-day total of 159 (+15) after posting rounds of 79 (+7) and 80 (+8), respectively. Gibson once again recorded an 80 (+8) to move her MW Championship total after two rounds to 160 (+16), while senior Kathleen Kershisnik shot an 83 (+11) to bring her mark to 163 (+19) at the par-72, 6,291-yard Dinah Shore Tournament Course at the Mission Hills Country Club.

Freshman Megan Knadler and sophomore Klara Castillo lead UW with two birdies each on Tuesday. Both birdies for Megan Knadler came on the back-nine, which was the best nine-hole score for Wyoming with a 38 (+2). She totaled an 82 (+10) for the second round, and now has a 168 (+24) with the final round remianing. Castillo is one shot ahead with a 167 (+23), after she had an 85 (+13) during the second round.

“Tomorrow we will go out there and play fearless with nothing to lose,” Stender added.

The action will conclude Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. MT from the Dinah Shore Tournament Course. Live results will be available on GolfStat.com.
