Wyoming's Jordan Lintz Places 12th at Ram Fall Classic Golf Tournament

Jordan Lintz shot a final round 77on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 12th place at the Colorado StateUniversity Ram Fall Classic. Lintz ended with a 54-hole total of 228 to tieCatalina Cardenas of Wichita State for 12th in the field of 83 women'sgolfers. The Wyoming Cowgirls placed 13th in the 16-team field with athree-round total of 968.

The University of Nevada won the team title at 907, while BreeSharratt of CSU won medalist honors, shooting a 219. Lintz playedconsistently throughout the three rounds, posting scores of 77, 74 and 77.The tournament was played Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 7-8 at the PtarmiganCountry Club.

"As a team we shot a 323 in the final round, which was an excellentscore," said UW women's golf coach Jill Johnson. "Our three-round total of968 was 11 strokes better than what we shot a year ago on this same golfcourse. I saw some good play by several of our girls this week. Jordan(Lintz) played as consistently as ever. She is hitting the ball fantasticright now. If it wouldn't have been for her missing a couple of key puttstoday, she could have finished as high as sixth or seventh.

"Jana Johnson also had a nice tournament. Jana improved every roundthis week, with rounds of 81, 80 and 79. Tara Ludwig finished up with anice round of 82, and our two freshmen, Kim Nissen and Alison McGuire,showed me a lot in their first college tournament."

Lintz enters her senior season as one of the top women's golfers inthe new Mountain West Conference. She ended her junior season with aninth-place finish at the 1999 Western Athletic Conference Championship.During her junior season, Lintz posted six Top 25 finishes in 10tournaments, including winning her first college tourney at UW's own CowgirlChallenge.

The next fall tournament for the Cowgirls will be the BYUInvitational, Sept. 13 and 14 at Provo, Utah.

Here are the final team scores from the 1999 Ptarmigan Ram FallClassic. The Ptarmigan Country Club measures 5,998 yards and plays to a parof 72.
