Gabrielle Gibson posted another solid round on Wednesday to continue to lead the Cowgirl golf team at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. Gibson shot a 79 (+7) at the Leilehua Golf Course in Wahiawa, Hawai’i, and is currently tied 15th with a two-round total of 149 (+5). The Cowgirls have a total tally of 625 (+49) and sit in 12th place with one round remaining.
“We came out a little flat today and didn’t bounce back,” UW head coach Josey Stender said. “They fought hard and didn’t give up but we just couldn’t get anything going.”
Megan Knadler jumped 15 spots on the individual leaderboard and fired the best round of the day for UW. She hit a 76 (+4) to move her two-round score to 156 (+12). Kaylee Knadler, Klara Castillo and Taylor Dorans each shot an 82 (+10) on Tuesday. Kaylee Knadler sits tied 59th with a tally of 159 (+15), while Castillo is tied 65th with a score of 161 (+17) and Dorans is one shot back with a total of 162 (+18).
“These girls are resilient and positive,” Stender added. “Gabrielle (Gibson) is still in great position to have a great finish tomorrow.”
BYU moved into the top spot with an eight-shot lead over Mississippi. The Cougars have a team total of 584 (+8), while Brooklyn Hocker and Rose Huang are tied for the individual lead with a 141 (-3).
The tournament concludes on Thursday with the final round set to begin with a 12 p.m. MT shotgun start.
