ARROYO GRANDE, CALIF. - Taylor Dorans led the Cowgirls shooting a 77 (+4) on the par-73, 6,040-yard Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif. The Cowgirls are in seventh place in the 13-team field.
"The girls played well," UW head golf coach Joe Jensen said. "It is a very difficult course and we made some mistakes out there. But we can come out and correct them tomorrow in the final round."
Dorans led the Cowgirls carding a 77(+4) and is tied for 17th. Redshirt freshman Gabrielle Gibson finished the first round tied for 18th place notching a 78 (+5) on the day. Senior Samantha Stancato shot a 79 (+6) and is tied for 25th. Sophomore Mackenzie Barrie recorded a tally of 82 (+9) finishing tied for 34th. Wrapping up the day for UW was junior Kathleen Kershisnik scoring an 83 (+10) tying for 37th.
Northern Arizona is the team leader after posting a 300 (+8) with CSU-Northridge in second at 304 (+12), while Santa Clara is third with a 306 (+14). Rebecca Bostrom of CSU-Northridge is the individual leader after shooting a 72 (-1).
The Cowgirls wrap up the tournament and the fall season with one 18-hole tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
