Cowgirl Golf Competes at Arkansas-Little Rock Trojan Classic

October 20, 1998

University of Wyoming womens golfer Jordan Lintz (Rapid City, S.D.) tied for 24th place out of 87 golfers at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Trojan Classic on Tuesday. Lintz shot a three-round total of 238 (22 over par). As a team the Cowgirls placed 15th in the 17 team field. Southern Mississippi, captured the team title. The individual champion was Erin Doyle of Southern Miss, who shot a 54-hole total of 224 (eight over par).

"Jordan (Lintz) wasnt able to make a move today," said Wyoming womens golf coach Jill Johnson. "She, like all of the girls (on our team), had a hard time with the greens this week. We play most of our tournaments on bent grass greens. The greens at this tournament were bermuda grass, which are much slower. Its just something the girls will have to learn from. We have two more tournaments left on our fall schedule, and its important with such a young team that we continue to play as many tournaments as possible so our team can mature and improve."

The tournament was played at the Maumelle Country Club in Maumelle, Ark. The course played to a par of 72 and measured 5,920 yards.

Wyomings next tournament is the New Mexico State Invitational on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Las Cruces, N.M.
