Kim Nissen Signs With Wyoming Women's Golf Program

July 21, 1999

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming women's golf coach Jill Johnson announced on Wednesday the signing of Kim Nissen of Lakewood, Colo., to a national letter-of-intent to compete for the Cowgirl golf team.

Nissen played at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colo., where she placed fourth at the Colorado State Championships. Nissen won the Jefferson County Regional Championship, and was a First Team All-JeffCo Conference selection. In addition to her high school accomplishments, she qualified to play in the Optimist International Junior Golf Tournament in Palm Beach, Fla., in July of 1999.

"Kim will be a great addition to our team," said Johnson. "She has worked very hard this past year. This summer, Kim has had an opportunity to play in a number of amateur tournaments against current college players, and she's been able to defeat a number of those college players. Being able to gain that kind of experience, I think will give her confidence as she enters her freshman year. Kim definitely has the talent and the work ethic to earn a spot on our traveling squad as a true freshman."

Nissen is the daughter of Janet and Ron Nissen of Lakewood, Colo.
