Cowgirls Compete at Oregon State Invitational: The University of Wyomingwomen's golf team finished 18th at the Oregon State Shanico Invitational,held at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore., on Friday andSaturday, Sept. 15-16.

The Cowgirls shot a three-round team total of 1006 on the par 72course. The Cowgirls were led by Alison McGuire who tied for 66th with ascore of 245. Jessi Santesson shot a 250 putting her in a tie for 80th.Tara Ludwig finished in a tie for 84th with a 254. Ashley Cariveau shot a260 placing her in a tie for 89th, and Aryn Cariveau placed 92nd with ascore of 265.

Colorado State's Stephanie Linnell took the top individual honorswith a score of 219, three over par. The University of California won the18 team tournament shooting a score of 910, just one stroke ahead of SanDiego State and the University of San Francisco.

"It was a disappointing week for us," said Wyoming head coach JillJohnson. "We're young and we are just trying to get some experience rightnow. I know these first few tournaments are going to be rough. We justneed to learn to be patient.

"Alison (McGuire) had a really steady tournament and she'sdefinitely starting to gain some confidence in her game. I think within thenext couple of weeks she's going to start breaking into the 70's a littlebit more and probably be a real strong player for us this year."

The Cowgirls will take a week off between tournaments beforereturning to the links Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, when they compete atthe Lady Cardinal Invitational in Beaumont, Texas.
