Kayla Morrison Signs With Wyoming Women's Golf Team

Nov. 20, 2002

University of Wyoming women's golf coach Jill Rettinger announced today the signing of Kayla Morrison of St. Mary's, W.Va., to a national letter of intent.

Morrison is currently a high school senior at St. Mary's High School and will join the Wyoming golf team in the fall of 2003. She captured first place at the Elks Tournament of Champions in Springs, Pa., in 2002, and placed second in that same tournament in 2001. She also has been invited to participate in the West Virginia Top Flite Junior Tour Championship. A three-year letterwinner on a coed team of boys and girls at St. Mary's High School, she was the first girl to achieve All-Conference honors in the Little Kanawha Conference.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as her chapter's treasurer. Morrison is also active in the Science Honorary, and was chosen to attend Girl's State in West Virginia.

"Kayla (Morrison) will be a great addition to our program," said Rettinger. "What I have seen in her is tremendous grit and determination. I know that her desire to compete and succeed will enable her to immediately make an impact on Cowgirl golf."

Morrison is the daughter of Ginnie and Mike Morrison.
