Post-game quotes on the Northern Colorado game from UW head coach Anne Moore
On her team's overall performance - ?The first half we were a little bit tenative and I think that they were just holding back a little too much. In the second half I think we opened things up a little more, and some players started going forward and that?s how we ended up getting good scoring chances. We had much more of an attack in the second half.
?We just wanted to look at some different combinations and everyone got to play, so that was good to get people into a game situation. It was a good result, we just need to work out some things offensively, finishing opportunities that we have.?
On her team's defensive performance - ?Defensively, there were a couple of opportunities that they had in front of the net that were a little bit scary. I think we need to tighten things up and work on the communication between the sweeper and the two outside backs.?
On where her team is in preparation for the regular season - ?We need to be a little bit faster, tighten things up defensively and finish our scoring offensively. I hope this got the jitters out of the way, and they now start stepping up their game and becoming a little more confident.?
Post-game quotes on the Mesa State game from UW head coach Anne Moore
?We had spurts where we were playing very well when everyone was pressuring, everyone was working, and then we had points where people would just stop, it wasn't ninety minutes, it was five minutes here, five minutes there. We have to play for ninety minutes in order to win games.
?We are trying as a team to focus on the first five minutes, because I thought in the second half we did a good job of coming out ready, but the first half needs to be the same way, as soon as we step out onto the field we have to be ready to play.
?Yesterday we had some opportunities to finish and today we just didn?t finish the opportunities that we had. At times when we were dominating, we were playing quickly and we were working the ball. The times we didn?t do so well was when we were slowing down and playing at a lower level.
?I think the main focus of our practices will be see the play and pressure, because we pressure a lot more in the game situation than we have been doing in practice. We need to make practice tougher so the games are a little easier instead of vise versa.?
