The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team completed its exhibition season suffering a 3-1 loss to Colorado College Sunday afternoon at the UW Soccer Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Wyoming scored the first goalof the game when senior Tuva Gulbrandsen found juniorLindsey Vossbrink for a goal 52:59 into the game. However, Colorado College quickly answered when Stephanie Kernan scored the equalizer at the 64:00 minute mark off of a header. The game remained knotted in a 1-1 tie until the 85:46 mark when Kelly Sweitzer scored an unassisted goal on a direct kick. Colorado College would add an insurance goal just over a minute later when Courtney Michel scored on an assist from Sweitzer. The game ended in a 3-1 win for Colorado College.
"Overall it was a good outing for both teams," said UWhead coach Anne Moore. "It gave us a good look atourselves against a quality opponent like Colorado College.
"Both of these exhibition games gave us a great chance tosee some of our younger players in a game situation and I am very pleased with what we saw."
The Cowgirl regular season will begin Friday, Aug. 29 whenthe Georgia Bulldogs travel to Laramie for a 4:00 pm contestat the UW Soccer Stadium.
"The effort is there but there are still some things weneed to work on to prepare for Georgia," said Moore."Georgia is going to be a tough team, they come from atough conference and they will definitely test us right offthe bat."
