Wyoming at Hawai`i - Hawaii 2-0 - Box Score

The University of Wyoming Cowgirls wrapped uptheir participation in the 2000 Outrigger Hotels & Resorts InvitationalSunday, taking runner-up honors with a 2-0 loss in the title match to theUniversity of Hawaii Wahine.

The Cowgirls had only four shots, all saved by Wahine goalie DemarreSanchez. Hawaii took 27 shots. Wyoming goalkeeper Amanda Vandervort playedwell, managing to save nine shots-on-goal, while the team saved two.

Hawaii freshman Arlene Devitt scored the team's two goals, the first 18minutes into the match. She scored again with eleven minutes left in thesecond half. The Wahine had three cautions and one ejection. The Cowgirlswere also penalized with the ejection of freshman Kerri Fahres, fifteenminutes into the second period.

"Our legs were dead from playing the night before," said head coach AnneMoore. "We had our moments of greatness, but not enough to win."

Wyoming midfielder Katrina Morton, along with striker Kelly McShane werethe lone Cowgirls voted onto the all-tournament team. Hawaii standout,Devitt, was unanimously named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.

The Cowgirls' record now stands at 1-1-0. They take on the EasternWashington Eagles at home Friday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.
