OGDEN, Utah -
The University of Wyoming women's soccer team fell to Weber State in overtime 2-1 Sunday afternoon at P.E. Playfield. Freshman forward Candace Sciberras scored her first career goal 15 minutes into Sunday's first half, but the Cowgirls dropped their second-straight contest in extra time.
Wyoming (1-3) had a balanced attacking effort on the offensive side with seven shots by six different players including the goal by Sciberras. Senior goalkeeper Alex Boehm had eight saves.
In the first half the Cowgirls came out with good immediate pressure and 15 minutes in freshman forward Alisha Bass assisted Sciberras for the first goal of the game. WSU responded with a goal late in the first half to send the teams to the break tied at 1-1.
UW and Weber State went into the second half with strong defense on both sides and ended regulation play tied. In the extra period, the Wildcats found the back of the net just 33 seconds in to end the game.
Cowgirls return to the road on Friday at Utah Valley at 7:30 p.m. MT in Orem, Utah.
