Cowgirl Soccer Loses to Kansas

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Wyoming at Kansas - Kansas 4-1 - Box Score

The University of Wyoming women's soccer team lost to the Kansas Jayhawks today by a score of 4-1. Kansas scored once in the first half and then added three second half goals to give them their first win of the season. The Cowgirls and Jayhawks were tied going into the second period, however Kansas dominated in the second half with fifteen shots to four.

The lone Cowgirl goal was put into the net by sophomore forward, Laura Miceli, who got past KU goalie, Betsy Pollard at 20:48 in the first half. Katrina Morton and Marci Crank also added to a frustrating offensive effort by having two and four shots respectively. UW goalie Amanda Vandervort had a career high of 16 saves for the Cowgirls as well.

The Cowgirl's next games will be Wednesday, Sept. 1 and Friday, Sept. 3 versus Denver and Colorado College. Both games will be at 4:00 pm at the UW Soccer Stadium. Their next road matches will be Sept. 5, Sept. 10 and Sept. 12 versus Colorado, Gonzaga and Washington State.
