Cowgirl Soccer Edged By Marshall

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccerteam became the fourth consecutive team to be shutout by the MarshallUniversity Thundering Herd, falling 1-0 today. The Cowgirl's record nowstands at 2-2-1, with the Herd improving to 4-0-0.

Marshall came out quickly and aggressively, scoring ten minutes into thegame. The only goal of the game came from Lindsey Jayjack with assistancefrom Kely Posey. The two teams were balanced in shots, Marshall taking sixand Wyoming taking five in the first half.

In the second period the Cowgirls played more aggressively, but were unableto tie up the game. They took five more shots, as did Marshall, but wereunable to capitalize on the opportunities to score. Five of the Cowgirlshots were saved by Marshall goalie, Kayla Johnson. Wyoming's AmandaVandervort saved four Herd boots from making it into the net.

"We weren't working as hard as we have in the past, as far as puttingpressure on them," said head coach Anne Moore. "We gave them too much timeto turn the ball and take advantage of opportunities."

The Cowgirls next contest will be Sunday, Sept. 11, at noon when thePortland State Vikings (0-3) come to Laramie.
