The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team lost to Creighton University 2-0, Sunday afternoon in Omaha, Neb. With the loss, the Cowgirls record drops to 4-4.
Creighton got on the board early as they scored on theirthird shot of the match at the 5:04 mark when Lulu Quigley found Ivonne Valentin for a header and the goal. The Blue Jay's offense continued to pound the Cowgirl goal in the first half taking 13 shots to Wyoming's 4. However, Cowgirl goalkeeper Lori Scheider came away with six saves and limited Creighton to the 1-0 lead at the half.
The second half began with fifteen minutes of scorelesssoccer until Creighton scored in the 60th minute. Quigley notched her second assist of the day when she found Regina Moench for another Creighton goal off of a header.Creighton goalie Jaimie Thompson made five saves in thesecond half and held the Cowgirls scoreless to record the shutout win. Wyoming was more productive on offense tallying six shots in the second half while Creighton took eight. Scheider took the loss in goal for the Cowgirls as she made 11 saves in the match.
The Cowgirls will return home for a single game when theyhost Cal-Riverside next Friday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is setfor 4 pm.
