Cowgirl Soccer Blows by Utah State, 2-0

Wyoming had success against Utah State this weekend,with the Cowgirl soccer team dominating the Aggies and winning their firstgame since the Aug. 31 season opener.

UW came into the first period sluggishly, but stepped up immediately in thesecond half. A penalty kick taken by senior defender, Jessica Piccone,deflected to Abby Mouch who drilled the ball into the net from 18 yards outat 47:52.

The second goal of the game that sealed the Cowgirls' win came from juniortransfer, Kelly McKay. Forward/midfielder Renee' Minero laid the ball offabout 30 yards out when McKay received it. She socked it into the goalarea, and a mishandling of the ball by Utah's keeper, Megan Mills, resultedin the second goal for Wyoming.

"Our team recovered very well from our disappointing loss (to Weber State,2-1 in overtime) on Friday," said Wyoming's head coach Anne Moore. "We wereable to get it together Sunday and play our game again."

The Aggies outshot the Cowgirls, 15-9, but UW was able to make their shotscount.

Wyoming travels again next week, to California where they take on Cal StateFullerton Fri., Sept. 28 at 4 p.m., and UC Riverside on Sun., Sept. 30 at 1p.m.
