The University of Wyoming soccer team lost its first home match since 2013 on Friday afternoon against the San José State falling in overtime 1-0 at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.
San José State’s Darriell Franklin shot a ball passed freshman goalkeeper Cassidy Entsminger to score for the Spartans in the 96th minute of the match.
Wyoming’s defense stayed strong throughout regulation as goalkeepers Georgia Rowntree and Entsminger recorded three saves each. UW only allowed 13 total shots with eight of them coming in the second half.
The Cowgirl’s offensive pressure was present as they had three corner kicks to SJSU’s one. Sophomore forward Shaina Ashouri led UW in shots with two. Junior forwards Anne Hinman and Laurel Ramer and defenders Taylor Burton, Alisha Bass and Alyssa Murray each notched one shot on the afternoon.
Wyoming will return to the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex on Sunday to battle the Fresno State Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. MT.
