Wyoming Soccer Drops Two Over Weekend

Wyoming ended a disappointing weekendwith two losses, first to Cal State Fullerton on Fri., Sept. 28 and then onSun., Sept. 30 versus UC Riverside.

Friday's match-up against the Titans resulted in the second shut-out of theseason for the Cowgirls. They held off Cal State in the first period, butErica Jacalone shot one in at 67:05. UW adjusted their playing style, butthe Titans went on to score again and win the game, 2-0.

The Cowgirls' could not capitalize on one-on-one opportunities at the goal. Despite five break-away plays, Wyoming was kept goal-less.

"Fullerton is very fast and physical," said Wyoming head coach Anne Moore."We got pretty beat up. They're a very good team." The Titans improvedtheir record to 4-4-0 with the win, and are now on a three-game winningstreak.

Sunday's game versus the University of California at Riverside wasadditionally challenging. The Highlanders came out immediately and scored agoal only :43 seconds into play.

UW's Sancy Florquist answered back and brought the Cowgirls back in thegame at 5:29 when she scored UW's only goal. Florquist leads UW with threegoals this season.

Wyoming was unable to score again, and the Highlanders put away the gamewith shot from Jill Intarachote at 67:08.

"We did not play well," said Moore. "We have a lot of injuries right now,and those who could play were playing hurt. It's been frustrating. Ourteam is trying to get it together, but it's hard right now with all theinjuries we've been having."

The Cowgirls' have one home match this weekend. Denver University makes their way to Cowgirl Field on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
