Denver Freezes Cowgirl Soccer in Shutout

For the second straight game, theCowgirl soccer team was shut out on the road. The University of Denverdemonstrated strong defense in the 2-0 victory over Wyoming on Wednesday inDenver, Colo.

The Cowgirls could not manage to get their offense started in the coolweather, as they were only able to get two shots offduring the entire game, both coming in the second half. The Pioneers had atotal of 12 shots during their victory, with eight in the second half alone.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half during the defensivebattle. However, the Pioneers dominated the second to score two goals. Atthe 55:42 mark into the game, Mychael Movius scored on a low cross fromKerri Weaver and Camile Flenniken. The final goal for DU came with lessthan five minutes to play when Katie Antongiovanni scored her fifth goal ofthe season, with an assist from Movius.

UW sophomore Lindsey Vossbrink and junior Brenna Meadows were the onlyCowgirls able to get a shot during the match-up. Junior goalkeeper LoriScheider had three saves on the night.

With the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 3-6-1 on the season and the Pioneersimproved to 7-1-2. Wyoming returns home for a three game homestand whenthey take on the University of North Texas on Sunday at noon at UW SoccerStadium. They will then start their conference season on Thursday againstthe University of Utah.
