Cowgirls Lose to Sun Devils 5-1

The University of Wyoming CowgirlSoccer team traveled to Tempe, AZ to take on the Arizona State SunDevils today and lost 5-1. The game was played at 7:00 PM tonightbecause of the heat, however it was still eighty-five degrees when thegame was started.

The game was close after the first half at a score of 1-2 Sun Devils,but in the second half Arizona State out scored the Cowgirls threenothing, to finish the game 1-5.

The one goal for the Cowgirls came in the 43rd minute, when junior,Kelly McShane found the back of the net off a two yard pass from seniorKatrina Morton. Morton along with several others had one shot on thenight, while two Cowgirls, Sarah Stephens and Abby Mouch, finished withtwo shots.

UW goalie Amanda Vandervort increased her statistics with six saves onthe night. She is only forty saves away from reaching the individualcareer saves record at 273, set by goalkeeper Bobbie Mack in 1995-96.

The Cowgirls next opponent is Arizona on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at 1:00PM.
