Cowgirl Soccer Falls In First Conference Match

LARAMIE, Wyo. - *Wyoming at UNLV - UNLV 1-0 - Box Score

An unbeaten home stand remains in tact forthe UNLV Rebels women's soccer team, who defeated Wyoming on Friday 1-0. Theloss brings the Cowgirls' record to 6-4-1 overall, and 0-1 in the MountainWest Conference, while the Rebels improved to 8-4 on the season.

The teams were evenly matched in a scoreless first half. The Cowgirls gaveup the only goal, made in the second period, to Rachel Buscovich at 66:58.Both teams played an extremely physical contest. One UNLV player and twoCowgirls received yellow cards.

Wyoming was out shot by UNLV, 30-10. Katrina Morton led the Cowgirls with3 shots. On the other end, goalie Amanda Vandervort had nine saves.

"We played and fought hard," said Wyoming head coach Anne Moore. "JessicaPiccone had an outstanding game, we just couldn't get one in the net."

The Cowgirls continue conference play this weekend, traveling to San Diegoto take on the Aztecs Sunday. Wyoming will be back at home Oct. 13 for amatch with South Alabama and kick off a six game home stand to finish uptheir regular season.
