Laramie, Wyo. - The University of WyomingCowgirls soccer team captured its first conference win ofthe season with a 1-0 victory over the UNLV Rebels. TheCowgirls improved their overall record to 6-6 and theirconference record to 1-0 with the win on Friday.
The winning score of the game for the Cowgirls came fromSarah Skinner, a junior from Sedalice Colo. The goal came inthe 50th minute on an unassisted free kick.
"Sarah had a great shot that made the difference in today's game,"said UW head coach Anne Moore.
Senior Lori Scheider from Littleton Colo. moved into secondplace on the all-time saves list at Wyoming with seven savesin the game adding to here career number of 277.
This was the Cowgirls first conference win since they haddefeated Air Force 1-0 on Nov. 2, 2001. The Cowgirls hadnever beaten the Rebels since they first began playing eachother in 1998. "Every year it is an extremely tight gameagainst UNLV, but this year we pulled it out," said Moore
The Cowgirls return to action as they host the San DiegoState Aztecs Sunday afternoon. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. atthe UW Soccer Stadium.
