FORT WORTH, Texas -
Freshman Kelsey Lindner came up big for the Cowgirls as she scored her second goal of the year in the 88th minute to tie the Horned Frogs of TCU at 1-1 on Friday night in Fort Worth.
A very familiar place for the Cowgirls, this marks their sixth overtime game of the year. The tie puts the Cowgirls at 6-5-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the Mountain West Conference. TCU is now 5-6-3 overall and 0-1-2 in MWC play.
"I'm so pleased at the way we didn't give up and kept trying to find ways to score," head coach Anne Moore said. "The game was kind of out of control, but we kept our composure and played the way we needed to play which I am very proud of."
Sophomore Caroline Starns of TCU snapped the 0-0 tie with her first goal of the year in the 63rd minute to give the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead. The game remained tight throughout the second half with both teams playing hard to try and earn the win.
"We moved a midfielder up towards the end of the game to try and put more pressure on their defense," Moore continued. "Kelsey had an opportunity and did a great job of finishing."
Wyoming returns home to the Gem City to host MWC opponent San Diego State Sunday October 15 at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex at 1 pm. Sunday's match will be the last home game of the year for the Cowgirls and the last for five seniors who have had oustanding careers at Wyoming.
