The University of Wyoming women’s soccer team fell to the Nevada Wolfpack 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Nevada’s Erin Saxton scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute from a rebound off sophomore goalkeeper Georgia Rowntree’s initial save. UW is now 3-4-1 in Mountain West play and 7-5-4 overall this season.
Forwards Kaitlyn Lomsnes, Shaina Ashouri, Laurel Ramer and Jessie Gentle each tallied one shot on Sunday afternoon. Defender Kimmy Burbank also notched a shot during the match, although the Cowgirls were outshot by the Wolfpack 10-5 on the afternoon. Both shots from Lomsnes and Gentle were on goal.
Goalkeepers Rowntree and Cassidy Entsminger totaled three saves on the afternoon. Rowntree recorded two saves in the first stanza as Entsminger notched one in the second.
Wyoming remains seventh in the MW standings. UW will return to the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex to face the Boise State Broncos on Friday at 3 p.m. MT.
