LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Lauren Eberts has been named Director of Operations for the University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer program, head coach Pete Cuadrado announced Wednesday. Eberts joins the program after most recently coaching in the Buckeye Soccer Association in Medina, Ohio, and as a trainer at the North Coast Premier Soccer Complex.
“Lauren comes to Wyoming with a great playing background at Northern Illinois University, and has demonstrated great potential as a leader,” Cuadrado said.
Eberts, a four-year starter at Northern Illinois and team captain her senior year in 2012, was also a two-time defensive Most Valuable Player for the Huskies. Eberts started every game except two for NIU during her career and helped the Huskies form one of the top defenses in the Mid-American Conference her senior year, allowing just 19 goals to go along with six shutouts. Her 74 starts ranks sixth all-time for NIU.
"Lauren’s experience as a team captain while playing at Northern Illinois shows her ability to lead and her dedication to the game is shown through her coaching experiences thus far,” Cuadrado said. “We are looking forward to her contributions to our program, and feel she will be a tremendous asset to Wyoming Soccer.”
In addition to playing at the collegiate level, Eberts also has experience working with the Northern Illinois FC by assisting coaches with training sessions and clinics. She participated in the NIU women’s soccer camp as a camp counselor and has worked as a personal soccer trainer.
Eberts graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in public health and a minor in Spanish in 2013 while garnering dean’s list and MAC Academic Honor Roll accolades all four years. She was nominated for the 2013 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
