Senior Cowgirl McDowell Named to the NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Team

LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming senior forward Lucie McDowell has earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-West Region honors, announced Jan. 22. McDowell was named NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Honorable Mention after completing the fall semester with a 3.22 GPA.

"Lucie has worked hard in the classroom and on the field to be recognized on the 2013 NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Team," UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "She has had a great career at Wyoming and is very deserving of this award. She has helped set a high academic and athletic standard for future players to achieve."

A criminal justice major, McDowell was a key contributor and offensive threat for the Cowgirls during her senior season. She led the team with 23 points, 10 goals and 49 shots while earning All-Mountain West First Team honors. Her 10 goals were third in the MW and the second-best mark in a single season for a Cowgirl. McDowell finished her career fifth in UW history with 18 goals and sixth with 45 points.

The last Cowgirl to earn NSCAA Scholar All-West Region honors was Kayla Davis during the 2011 season. Davis was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Third Team.
