Cowgirl Soccer Hires New Assistant Coach

University of Wyoming head soccer coachAnne Moore announced the hiring of Ian Hayley as an assistant with theCowgirl Soccer program. His hiring is subject to the Board of Trustee'sapproval. He will join the team April 1, 2001.

Hayley comes to UW from a head coaching position at Mercer University inMacon, Georgia, where his team was the TAAC Champions three times in 1994,1997 and 1998. He's had considerable success in other coaching endeavorsbefore and during his time with Mercer. He was part of the OlympicDevelopment Program Region III coaching staff beginning in 1993 to present.His main responsibilities included technical and tactical coaching.

Hayley attended the University of Central Florida and played there from1988 through 1990. He graduated in 1992 with a bachelor's degree inphysical education with secondary education certification. He played soccerfor seven years from 1975 to 1981, including two years with Aston Villa,which is English First division and among the best in the world. Heacquired his United States Soccer Federation "A" License in 1998.

"We're very excited to have Ian join our staff," said coach Moore. "Hebrings a lot of experience from his head coaching position at a Division onelevel. He has great recruiting contacts, especially overseas. He's verypersonable, outgoing and loves the game of soccer. I think he'll bring alot of enthusiasm to our team."
