Laramie, Wyo.-- The University of Wyoming Cowgirlsoccer team played a pair of games in Colorado Springs, Colo. and atthe Southern California Premier Tournament last weekend and finishedwith a record of 2-1-1.
The Cowgirls played at Air Force last Friday sweeping Air Force andColorado College. In the first match of the day, the Cowgirls beatAir Force 1-0 off of a goal by senior Lindsey Vossbrink. Senior MariGomes notched the assist on the goal. In their second match,sophomore Christine Nagel scored the lone goal on an assist fromsenior Sarah Skinner to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 win over ColoradoCollege.
Sunday, the Cowgirls tied and lost a game at the Southern CaliforniaPremier Tournament in Berkeley, Calif. In their first match, SanDiego beat the Cowgirls 1-2. Gomes tallied the goal off of an assistfrom sophomore Kristin Gurrola. The Cowgirls played Cal-Poly to a 1-1tie in their final match of the weekend. Sophomore Doreen Thompsonscored the lone Cowgirl goal on an assist from senior Melissa Bowman.
"This was our best weekend all spring," said UW head coach AnneMoore. "We played well against a high level of competition. Ourlevel of play is up, everyone is contributing and we are comingtogether as a team."
The Cowgirl spring season continues Saturday, April 24 as theCowgirls host Northern Colorado and Metro State at the UW SoccerStadium.
