LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming Cowgirl Soccer team will host two games on Saturday, April 12th against Metro State and Northern Colorado. The two contests will begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Cowgirls will also host its alumni game on Sunday, April 13th, at 2 p.m.
The weekend games are part of a spring tournament that will also feature college soccer teams from Mesa State and Regis University. Competition will take place at the Wyoming Soccer Stadium and the soccer practice field.
"As a team, we should be able to accomplish some things this weekend," said head UW soccer coach Anne Moore. "It has been hard to get outside because of the weather, so we have been inside doing a lot of individual fundamentals. It will be nice to get outside and get things going as a team."
The Cowgirls are currently 2-1-2 in spring competition. Just recently they traveled to Pocatello, Idaho were they defeated Boise State by a score of 1-0, Tuva Gullbrandsen scored the winning goal. The Cowgirls tied the Inter F.C. Soccer Club of Utah 0-0 in their next match, and then dropped their final game to Weber State 1-0.
"Last weekend gave us a chance to look at players in some different roles," added Moore. "We used a couple of different looks as far as the lineup and put people in different positions to see what works best. Overall, I thought our level of play was very good. There were moments where we created a lot of offensive opportunities and connected as a team."
