The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccerteam picked up two wins over the weekend at their home spring tournament.With the victories, the Cowgirls improve their spring record to 4-1-2.
In their first game the Cowgirls took on the Roadrunners of Metro State.Melissa Bowman scored the first goal of the game on a 30 yard shot to giveWyoming the early lead. The Cowgirls got their second goal of the day fromSarah Skinner who scored on a rebound shot from Mercy Adetoye to give theCowgirls a 2-0 advantage. The Cowgirls then played some great defense toshut out Metro State 2-0.
The Cowgirls would shut down Northern Colorado in their second game aswell. Sarah Skinner scored her second goal of the day on a free kick andTuva Gulbradsen would make the score 2-0 when she received a perfect assistfrom Mercy Adetoye. The defense once again held on as the Cowgirls defeatedthe Lady Bears 2-0.
"I thought our team played the best they have all spring," said UW headsoccer coach Anne Moore. "Individually you can see the training has paidoff, and they are playing much better as a team. We are finally puttingthings together in a game situation."
The Cowgirls also won the annual spring alumni game on Sunday by a score of6-0. The Cowgirls next compete at the Air Force Spring Tournament inColorado Springs, Colo. on April 26.
