LARAMIE, Wyo. -
After eight weeks of spring training and tournaments, the Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team will conclude its spring exhibition season on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22. The Cowgirls will travel to Mesa, Colo., on April 21 to play two matches at the Colorado-Mesa tournament before returning to Laramie on Sunday, for the annual alumni game and awards banquet. Wyoming soccer has taken part in three tournaments and one single game this spring posting a 5-1-2 (.857 winning percentage) overall record.
"We are working hard this spring to become more consistent," Wyoming head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "I would like us to show up in every game with the same intensity and effort. For the most part, I am pleased with how we have progressed this spring."
On Saturday, April 7th, the Cowgirls took part in the Regis University tournament in Denver, Colorado posing a 1-0-2 record. Their first two games of the tournament, they tied front-range rival Northern Colorado (1-1) and tied Fort Lewis 2-2. They picked up their third win of the spring defeating Colorado Mesa, 1-0, in the final game of the event. Following the Regis tournament, the Cowgirls pushed their overall record to 3-1-2 (.800).
The past Saturday, April 14th, the Cowgirls went undefeated posting a 2-0 record at the BYU tournament in Provo, Utah. In their first game the Cowgirls cruised past Dixie State 5-0. Wyoming then moved on to defeat former conference-rival Utah 2-1 in their final game of the BYU tournament. The victory advanced the Cowgirls record to 5-1-2 (.857) with one tournament remaining in the spring.
The Week Ahead:
Wyoming soccer will conclude its spring season on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, by traveling to Mesa for the Colorado-Mesa tournament on Saturday. The Cowgirls are scheduled for two matches at the Colorado-Mesa tournament beginning at 12:30 p.m. against Utah and concluding at 4:45 p.m. with a match against Southern Utah.
The spring season will come to a close on Sunday, April 22, with the annual alumni game and awards banquet. The alumni game will be played in the Wyoming Indoor Practice Facility at 10 a.m. MT with the awards banquet to follow at 6 p.m. in the Wildcatter Stadium Club and Suites.
