Cowgirl Soccer Closes Out Spring With Alumni Game

Laramie, Wyo.-- The University of Wyoming Cowgirlsoccer team closed out the 2004 spring season with a 3-1 victory overthe UW Alumni Team, Saturday morning at the UW Soccer Stadium.

The Cowgirls were led by senior Mari Gomes, who scored two goals in the game. Sophomore Christine Nagel also added a goal of her own onan assist from senior Lindsey Vossbrink.

For the Alumni team, All-Mountain West Conference goalkeeper LoriScheider saw playing time on the offensive end, scoring the loneAlumni goal.

Following the game, head coach Anne Moore announced the team awardsfrom last fall. Lori Scheider was selected as the Most ValuablePlayer after leading the Cowgirls to the best finish in schoolhistory, 10-9. On the season, Scheider recorded seven shutouts whilemaking 133 saves. She leaves Wyoming with the second most careersaves in UW history, 326.

Mari Gomes and Mercy Adetoye were selected as the co-offensiveMVP's, Kristin Stangl and Kara Walters were named co-defensiveMVP's and Meghan Racette was selected as the most improved Cowgirl.
