Cowgirl Soccer Announces Schedule for 2016 Season

Head coach Pete Cuadrado and the Wyoming soccer program announced its 2016 schedule on Wednesday. The 19-game schedule will feature nine home matches at the Louis S. Madrid Sports complex, six of which are Mountain West matches.

The Cowgirls will begin the season with one exhibition match against South Dakota on a neutral site in Hastings, Neb. Non-conference action is set for Friday, Aug. 19 with a contest against Houston Baptist in Laramie before hitting the road for the next four out of five matches. UW will face the likes of Idaho State, Aug. 23, Montana at home on Aug. 26, followed by Iowa, UTEP and New Mexico State. The Cowgirls return home on Friday, Sept. 9 with a showdown with Utah Valley before closing out the non-conference slate against Northern Colorado, on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Greeley.

“We are excited to be at home in Wyoming nine times this fall,” Cuadrado said. “It will be nice to play some traditional opponents, as well as our trips to Iowa and Texas (UTEP). We feel the schedule has a nice mixture of games and will ready us for conference play.”

On Sept. 23, Wyoming begins league play on the road against Boise State and will continue the weekend with a match versus Utah State on Sept. 25 in Logan. Their first home conference matches will be on Friday, Sept. 30 against the UNLV Rebels followed by a Sunday, Oct. 2 contest with the Nevada Wolf Pack. During the month of October, the Cowgirls will also host the Air Force Falcons Friday, Oct. 7; Colorado College on Oct. 9 and the San Diego State Aztecs on Sunday, Oct. 23. They will close out the home and regular season on Friday, Oct. 28 against rival Colorado State.

In all, the Cowgirls will play 11 Mountain West games, scheduled mainly on Fridays and Sundays. They will play six opponents at home and five on the road.

The Mountain West tournament will be held in San Diego, Calif. The quarterfinals are set for Tuesday, Nov. 1; the semifinals, on Thursday, Nov. 3; and the championship game, on Saturday, Nov. 5.
