Cowgirl Soccer to Face Colorado in Early Exhibition Match

Aug. 12, 2009

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

After a solid spring and quality practices in the preseason, the Wyoming Cowgirl soccer squad will play an exhibition match against the Colorado Buffaloes this Friday.

Kickoff between the Cowgirls and Buffs will be at 2:30 p.m. MT at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

"Overall the preseason went well. We didn't have a lot of time for practices, but we are excited to face Colorado," said UW head coach Danny Sanchez. "CU is a quality opponent and will be a good test for our first regular season game next week against Denver."

The Cowgirls return 14 players from last year and welcome nine newcomers for the 2009 season. Wyoming finished 8-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the Mountain West Conference last year.

CU finished 2008 with an overall record of 14-5-4 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. In the first round the Buffs lost to South Dakota State 1-0. Colorado will be led this year by 2009 Hermann Trophy watch list member Nikki Marshall.
