LARAMIE, Wyo. - Wyoming sophomore forward Sara Paul was honored as the Preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year on Monday by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Paul, a Calgary, Alberta native, is the reigning 2011 MW Freshman of the Year and is coming off a season in which she led the team in points (21) by scoring eight goals and five assists, earning First Team All-MW honors.
"If the team is doing well, the individuals on the team will usually get honors like this," said Wyoming coach Pete Cuadrado. "We look to Sara as one of our offensive leaders and believe she will do great things for us this year."
Paul took 66 shots last year, which is tied for second on the Wyoming all-time list for a single season. Her eight goals also tied her for fourth on the all-time list in a single season. She had three game-winning goals in 2011, which is third-most on the all-time Cowgirl list for a single season.
