The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team scored three goals in the first half to defeat Colorado School of Mines, 3-0 on Monday night at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Three different Cowgirls tallied goals in the contest for UW in their final exhibition match of the season.

"Tonight we put together a full 90 minutes," head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "Which we struggled with last week in our first exhibition against Omaha. Our goal today was to get a full 90, which we did and we are also happy with the way our defense played."

Junior defender Sammi Dunda scored the first goal for Wyoming in the 18th minute off a rebound from her own shot. Dunda's goal started the offensive control for UW during the match. In the 24th minute, sophomore forward Shaina Ashouri assisted sophomore midfielder Kimmy Burbank for the Cowgirls second goal of the evening. Before halftime the Cowgirls notched their final goal of the night as freshman defender Taylor Burton was assisted by junior defender Katie Marcheso in the 34th minute.

The Cowgirls controlled the tempo from start to finish as UW had 15 shots in the first stanza and 10 in the second. Leading the way for the Cowgirls was Ashouri and sophomore defender Claire Parker. They each had five shots on the night for Wyoming. Sophomore forward Candace Sciberras contributed with three shots, two of which were on goal. Dunda, Burbank, and freshmen forwards Charlotte Hume and Jessie Gentle each had two shots on the night, while forwards Anne Hinman, Laurel Ramer, Kayla Cryer and Tristan Tyrrell each had one shot for the Cowgirls. Goalkeepers Cassidy Entsminger and Georgia Rowntree had four total saves for Wyoming.

"I think we're ready for the regular-season to start," Cuadrado added. "After this game we will be able to focus on some of the smaller, detail oriented things to help us better prepare for this season. With practices this week we will be able to knock some of that off the list and get ready for Montana."

The Cowgirls return to the pitch on Friday in Missoula, Mont., against the University of Montana to kick off the regular-season. The match begins at 5:30 p.m. MT.
