COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming senior forward Mari Gomes and Air Force freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Drew have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Gomes, from San Jose, Calif., scored three goals (all unassisted) over the weekend, helping the Cowgirls to a 1-1 record. She started the weekend with a goal in Wyoming's 3-1 loss to Gonzaga. In a 2-1 overtime victory over Eastern Washington, Gomes provided all the offense for the Cowgirl's, starting with a game tying goal in the 77th minute of the match. With 11 seconds left in the first overtime period, Gomes went on a breakaway and knocked in the game-winning goal, giving Wyoming its first win of the season. The game-winner was the fourth of her career which now ranks second in UW school history. She also moved into third place on the all-time Cowgirl soccer list in career goals (12) and career points (25).

Drew, a Danville, Calif., native, saved eight shots, while allowing just one goal in 180 minutes of action as Air Force tallied a 1-1 record last weekend. In her first collegiate match against Northern Colorado on Friday, Drew saved two shots on the way to her first career shutout as the Falcons defeated the Bears, 1-0. Drew turned in another strong performance in goal, saving six shots and holding No. 23 Colorado scoreless for the first 46 minutes of the match before allowing a goal off of a corner kick, as the Buffaloes escaped with a 1-0 victory.
