COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For her two-goal performance against Northern Colorado, redshirt freshman Sara Paul earned Mountain West Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.
"This was a great weekend for the team," Wyoming soccer head coach Danny Sanchez said. "We are pleased that Sara was honored by the Mountain West. She scored two very good goals against Northern Colorado."
Paul, a product of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, tallied two goals in Wyoming's 2-1 double-overtime victory over Northern Colorado last Sunday. Her first goal came 8:47 into the contest, as she stole the ball from a UNC defender, made a move, and placed the ball into the lower left corner of the net. Paul's second goal was the game-winning strike in the 107th minute of action. She received a pass in the left corner of the Northern Colorado penalty box and put the ball past the goalkeeper in the top left corner of the net. With her two goals against UNC she now has a team-leading six on the season. She also leads the Cowgirls in overall scoring with six goals and one assist, giving her 13 total points. This is Paul's first MW Player of the Week honor of her Cowgirl career.
Earning MW Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors with Paul was UNLV freshman Jenna Howerton. The MW Co-Defensive Players of the Week went to Air Force senior defender Cassie Wilson and New Mexico junior defender Lauren Irwin.
