LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming women's soccer coach Pete Cuadrado announced Monday morning the addition of Shaina Ashouri (pronounced Ash-shore-ee) to the Cowgirl roster for the 2015 season. She is eligible to compete for the Cowgirls this fall.
Ashouri, a Parker, Colo. native, joins the Cowgirls after a freshman season at the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. She played in 18 games, starting three matches and compiling over 500 minutes on the pitch. She played as a midfielder helping the Panthers to six wins and accumulated one point with an assist and took nine shots including five on goal.
"I think she is a good player who will help our program," UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "We are excited to have her as a forward this upcoming season."
Ashouri graduated from Chaparral High School in Parker, where she lettered three years of varsity soccer. She did not play her senior soccer season due to early graduation.She was named a First Team All 5A Continental League as a junior and two-time honorable mention selection as a freshman and sophomore. Ashouri was also named captain and offensive MVP her junior year and played four years with Real Colorado, a national ECNL Team. She ranked second on Real Colorado in scoring with seven goals and six assists and guided the team to a second place ECNL finish in the Under 17 Midwest Conference in Heartland Division in 2013. In 2011-12 she led team in scoring with 14 goals and one assist and helped lead Real Colorado to the Colorado Cup championship, a Region IV Championship semifinals finish in Boise, Idaho and the Arsenal Cup finals in Fort Collins, Colo. in 2011.Ashouri ranked the state of Colorado's No. 25 recruit as a senior.
