The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team finished up the weekend with a 5-2 win over the Utah State Aggies, on Sunday morning, in Bozeman. They are now 3-0 overall in the dual season.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls earned the point by sweeping all three matches. Wyoming's number one team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski defeated the team of Lindsey Bennion and Andrea Barker, 8-4, while UW's Andrea House and Amy Senko earned an 8-2 win over Lauren Monson and Jill Smith. Wyoming closed out doubles play with an 8-3 win by Michelle Brown and Jamie Nelson over Courtney Anderson and Dee-Dee Nelson.
Wyoming won four out of six singles matches to come out on top in the dual. In the number one spot, Patricia Chien earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lindsey Bennion, while Karolina Rowinski defeated Jill Smith in three sets, 6-7, 6-1, 6-3. Andrea House defeated Dee-Dee Nelson, 6-1 6-3, and Michelle Brown earned a two set win 7-6 (4), 6-3 over Lauren Monson.
"I was pleased with our total effort over the weekend," said head coach Krissy Hall. "We had a great effort by everyone and hopefully it will carry on to our future matches."
The Cowgirls will resume play on Friday, Feb. 11 against the University of Idaho in Boise, Idaho. They will also take on Boise State and Eastern Washington over that weekend.
